Etimologia

Questo nome è stato adottato da Berland dal titolo omonimo di un libro di mwdgPierre Loti, pubblicato nel 1880; a sua volta, Loti, pare abbia preso il termine dalla rara parola mwdwtahitiana mweararahu che, fra i suoi significati, annovera quello di mweqmangiare cibo mwegtapu (cultura polinesiana); potrebbe anche aver preso il termine dal vulcano mwewRano Raraku, che è poco lontano, con una piccola variazione consonanticacite-ref-1[1].

Distribuzione

L'unica specie nota di questo genere è endemica delle mwggIsole Samoacite-ref-salticidae-2-0[2].

Tassonomia

In un suo studio l'aracnologo mwiqRoewer chiama questo genere col nome mwigRarahua: è da considerarsi un errore di scritturacite-ref-salticidae-2-1[2].

A maggio 2010, si compone di una sola speciecite-ref-salticidae-2-2[2]:
